10 Best TV Performances Of 2017 (So Far)

10. Rob Delaney - Catastrophe

Catastrophe Rob Delaney
Channel 4

Rob Delaney rose to prominence by making jokes on Twitter, before progressing more regularly into stand-up and then, eventually, writing and starring in his own sitcom alongside Sharon Horgan.

For anyone familiar with his Twitter account - especially his earlier, dirtier work - it should come as no surprise that Delaney is hilarious on Catastrophe, something he displayed once more in its excellent third season.

What is surprising, however, is just how great a dramatic actor he proved to be, taking his character Rob to all-new depths. Drawing on his own real life experiences as an alcoholic, Delaney gives an incredible, authentic take on struggling with addiction and trying to hide it from your family, while never forgetting to make us laugh too.

Catastrophe has established a reputation has one of the best sitcoms on TV, and that's true again this year, but Delaney's turn in Season 3, which is heart-wrenching at times, helps make it a great drama as well.
