10 Biggest Movie And TV News This Week (June 14)

Could a new Star Trek series really be on the horizon?

Aquaman Hello everyone, and welcome to another edition of the WhatCulture news brief, where we bring you a collection of the hottest movie and TV news stories from around the web. This week was a huge week in movie news, giving us plenty of great stories to dissect regarding some of our most hotly anticipated upcoming projects. Right off the bat we have updates on Marvel's search for an Ant-Man director (which thankfully ended early in the week), followed by updates on sequels like Avatars 2, 3, and 4, The Amazing Spider-Man 3, and Pacific Rim 2. Additionally, we have exciting casting news to announce, for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Marvel's Daredevil Netflix series. Then, to round things out, we have some new projects to talk about, such as SEGA's new Sonic the Hedgehog movie, a Magic the Gathering adaptation from a Game of Thrones alum, and, last but certainly not least: A new Star Trek series?! Yes please! As usual, let's take a look at some of the week's smaller stories before we jump into the bigger updates. We're already nearing superhero and genre fatigue as it is, so fleshing things out with some comedies and smaller projects will make things a whole lot easier.

Honourable Mentions

Dumb And Dumber ToThe first trailer for Dumb And Dumber To has arrived. And yes, it's dumb. But not as dumb as Dumb And Dumberer. So that's encouraging. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGXHVlEklgQ The Grand Budapest Hotel has been recreated in LEGO form. Yep, it's as awesome as it sounds!Brett Ratner's Hercules to get the IMAX 3D treatment. Finally, a screen big enough to house The Rock's gigantic biceps. The Captain Underpants movie will arrive on January 13, 2017. Tra la la! Harrison Ford "rushed to hospital" following an ankle injury on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. Apparently he was hurt by the door of the Millennium Falcon. Or did Han Solo hit first? There's a real-life Quidditch documentary in the works. It's called Mudbloods, and it focuses on college athletes who play Quidditch. Seriously.
