10 Classic Doctor Who Moments That Really Haven’t Aged Well

Far before the sonic screwdriver could fix any problem, Who was beset by issues.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing. It can make you look back on something with quality that ranges from iffy to €œWhat the hell am I watching€ with nothing but fondness because of the memories connected to it. Which is lucky for Doctor Who since the original series isn't exactly short of moments that only a nostalgic fan could love. No matter how much of a keystone of British television it is, there are more than a few moments of Doctor Who that have aged very poorly and don€™t hold up under a lot of scrutiny in the modern age. It could be the simple fact that the monumental leap in the programme€™s production values has made it more difficult to tolerate more basic effects. It could be that learning what happened behind the scenes makes the flaws of an episode more obvious. Or it could be that some things are just plain bad and no amount of fond memories can counter that. From the tinfoil monsters of the Hartnell and Troughton years to the early computer effects of the McCoy era, there are moments that you can€™t but help but have a little smirk at. No matter how committed the cast and crew were. It€™s part of both the Whovian sense of humour and the general approach to watching the Classics. Even the most diehard fan can look at an old episode and find moments that time has been particularly unkind to. Which is what we have done today. Better put your rose-tinted glasses on because these are the moments of Classic Doctor Who that haven€™t aged well€
