10 Craziest Fan Theories About The Simpsons

9. The Simpsons Predicted The Syrian War

The Simpsons Simpson Tide Earlier this year Egyptian TV channel al-Tahir aired a segment about the 2001 Simpsons episode "New Kids on the Blecch". The episode, which saw Bart and his friends form a boy band (which turned out to be a front to recruit children into the US Navy), featured a controversial music video. Entitled "Drop Da Bomb" the video showed the boys flying fighter jets and attacking hostile Middle Eastern soldiers. One shot showed a group of soldiers standing by a jeep adorned with a flag that bares a striking resemblance to the current flag of the Syrian Opposition. This has led to the conclusion that The Simpsons not only predicted the current Syrian Civil War, but that the West may actually have planted the seeds for it. Heading right to the source, Simpsons executive producer Al Jean had this to say: "Yes, we had the amazing foresight to predict conflict in the Middle East." We'll let you decide if he was being serious.
