10. The Great Gazoo (The Flintstones)
The Great Gazoo is a long-standing character - a little floating green alien - who first appeared in the animated series The Flintstones on October 29, 1965. While he does represent something of an annoyance to Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, he generally means well and often tries to help the bumbling pair - it never works, but at least he tries. He's the source of many jokes in the show, since only Fred, Barney and their children are able to see him. Therefore, when Fred it talking to him, Wilma thinks he's talking to himself, and when young Pebbles says "Gazoo", Wilma thinks she's sneezing. The Great Gazoo has a plethora of nifty powers, such as creating objects out of thin air, making objects disappear, freezing time, travelling through time and teleporting. Since The Flintstones finished, he has appeared on shows as current as Family Guy, while he has also been referenced in The Simpsons quite recently, emphasising his longevity. He has also appeared in Duck Dodgers cartoons, as well as cartoons of the likes of Space Ghost.
