10 Genuinely Heart-Wrenching Doctor Who Quotes

Tissues at the ready, folks.

Watching Doctor Who is an emotional rollercoaster. One minute you're on top of the world then before you know it you're face planting the floor in a flurry of exhaustive emotion, and sometimes so many things are happening at once that you don't even know if you're coming or going anymore. It's OK, though, because that's the way it's supposed to be, and it's safe to say that its ever growing legion of dedicated followers wouldn't have it any other way. After 51 years and counting in operation, the Doctor has well and truly paid his dramatic dues so he has every right to rip our hearts out and stamp on them a couple of times for good measure. It's what the show is all about, of course, and, if you've got to the end of any given episode without reaching for the tissues at least once, you obviously haven't been paying enough attention. Some stories are more heartbreaking than others, of course. The likes of Doomsday and The End of Time stick out for there overriding sorrow but within all episodes are specific quotes which have the power to send your Whovian feels into overdrive... and then some. Here are 10 of them, because nothing quite says, "Thank God it's Friday!" like getting your soul destroyed by reliving some of Doctor Who's saddest moments. Besides, sad is happy for deep people, right?
