10 Great TV Shows You'll Never Watch Again (And Why)

Some shows are so great that you only need to watch them once to get everything you need from them.

HBO

The great thing about the era of streaming is being able to go back and re-watch classic shows. Back in the day, once an episode aired you had to hope that you could catch it again in reruns over the summer. If you were lucky, a cable channel might pick it up in syndication. Buying seasons on DVD was okay if you had the cash and the room to store everything.

Streaming has simplified this process drastically. You can stay on top of current shows while digging into older ones you loved or may have missed the first time around.

There are those shows that are truly great but are still somehow not right to go back to for a second round. It's not that they weren't outstanding, they just rely on big twists that come out of nowhere to push the narrative forward. The tension is lost once you know how everything plays out. In other cases, a great series has a bad ending, which makes you not want to go around again.

Still, if you haven't seen these series yet, they're worth at least one watch.

10. Deadwood

Game Of Thrones Danaerys Death
HBO

Deadwood is one of the most intense Western TV series ever created, though Hell on Wheels is a close second. Based on real life residents and incidents of the infamous Western town, the show follows the growth of Deadwood from its earliest beginnings as a camp. Unfortunately, Deadwood came to an abrupt end after 36 episodes when HBO cancelled it.

The issue with re-watching Deadwood is that it gives you everything it has to offer the first time through. It's a brilliantly constructed series, from the characters through the dialogue. But Deadwood's also not the kind of show with depth beyond that. What you see is what you get. You're not going to find anything new on second time through it.
