Run: 2 seasons 2015 - present

Starring: Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, John Karna

Network: MTV

Based off Wes Craven's wildly popular film series, Scream is the televisual continuation of the 1996-2011 slasher franchise. While we may never get a fifth cinematic outing, the TV series was a huge coup for fans of the originals.

Bought by MTV, there is a younger edge to the series, which (like the films) would explain the casting of many unknown faces. Scream stars Willa Fitzgerald's Emma as the girl who may be tied to the history of serial killer Brandon James. The lives of Emma and her friends are irreparably changed as the story of the Lakewood Slasher is unraveled over a series of weeks, leading to a bloody finale.

With Craven serving as an executive producer on the first series, it was a fittingly his final project before his death from cancer in 2015. Not content with a single series, Scream Season 2 picked up the cliffhanger ending this year, airing weekly on popular VOD platform Netflix. The second season may not be as unique as the first, but seeing a large number of returning cast has solidified its viewers. Scream will return for a shortened (and presumably last) run of six episodes in 2017.
