10 Major Blunders in Doctor Who

6. The Sixth Doctor Dies By Hitting His Head on the Console (€œTime and the Rani€, 1987)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_OT2obe710 To be fair, we aren€™t 100% sure exactly what killed ole Sixie. All we know is that the TARDIS gets shot at by the Rani€™s beam, everyone inside gets knocked around, and when the Rani and her minions get inside, we see the Doctor has already started to regenerate. This was made all the worse by the fact that Colin Baker didn't want to come back to film the scene after being fired (and who can blame him?), so the role of the Sixth Doctor is played by...well, the Seventh. There really is nothing good about this scene. I€™m entirely in agreement with an interview I saw where someone said they should have just gone with showing the Doctor having already regenerated, like they did in the launch of the 2005 series. But that wasn€™t acceptable back in the day, so instead we got€this. *sigh* Let€™s move on.

5. Rose€™s Character Erosion (Season two, 2006)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvkjthzlyV8&feature=related One of my friends has been re-watching the Eccleston episodes and he said to me the other day, €œYou know, Rose is actually a really good, likeable character in season one!€ He said this in tones of great amazement, and I don€™t much blame him. She was really good in season one. But sadly, along came season two. It€™s hard to pinpoint exactly when Rose jumped the shark. I think it was when she decided she really wanted to jump the Doctor. This was explored a bit in season one, but it wasn€™t until Captain Gorgeous (aka: David Tennant), popped up that it became a major focus for her character. I have a theory as to why this is (look up €œmary sue€ and apply it to Russell T. Davies), but regardless of why it happened, it did, and it was not to the character€™s benefit.
