10 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know About The Office

You did know that none of the Dunder Mifflin computer's actually worked, right?

The US Office (or just The Office as it's known to those in and around Scranton, Pennsylvania) is regarded as one of the true gems of television comedy. Not merely an Atlantic transplant of the UK series, the American sister show became a creature of its own, creating new and lovable characters that allowed it to differentiate itself from the Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant creation.

For a show that spanned nine seasons, there are tons of bloopers, gags, out-takes, additional material (with the writers often having enough material for almost double the episode length) and trivia facts that exist in the show that can be appreciated by fans and non-fans alike.

For instance, during the filming of the episode where Michael seeks to find a suitable replacement for his job entitled "Beach Games", Rainn Wilson (Dwight) accidentally kicked sand into the eye of Leslie David Baker (Stanley), with Baker needing to go the local emergency room to have his eye washed out.

The show is littered with minute nuggets of trivia, like Charles Miner's previous employer Saticoy Steel named after Saticoy where the show is filmed in LA and Danny Cordray (Tim Olyphant) named after producer Randy Cordray. All these little facts hiding in one of the champions of American television comedy.

Despite all being fresh Dunder Mifflin employees, several members of the cast actually had past ties and links from previous jobs, schools, and sports teams. Some of the cast also had bonds that were formed by their mutual connection at the fictional paper company.

John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling, and Ellie Kemper all previously interned at Late Night with Conan O'Brien, although not at the same time, so they wouldn't have technically crossed paths. Both Krasinski and B.J. Novak attended Newton South High School where Krasinski starred in a play written by Novak during their time there, as well as playing for the same little league team when they were kids. Brian Baumgartner (Kevin) and Ed Helms (Andy) also attended high school together.

Carol, Michael's girlfriend during seasons 2 and 3, is actually Steve Carell's real life wife Nancy, the pair meeting when working for Saturday Night Live. Another surprise spouse that pops up is Jenna Fischer's husband Lee Kirk, who plays Pam's lactation consultant in the episode "The Delivery".

Since working together, Angela Kinsey (Angela) and Fischer have become great friends, with Fischer even being Godmother to Kinsey's child.
