10 Most Infuriating TV Series Finales

8. Dinosaurs

Dinosaurs was a fantastic show that basically combined the typical sitcom with the rather awesome idea of making the family dinosaurs, an notion that could only have been invented with the help of psychotropic drugs, I expect. Dinosaurs was a hilarious, thoroughly entertaining show, and always had a real streak of weirdness running through it, but even so, nobody anticipated that the finale episode would not only be so freaking strange, but so crushingly downbeat. Earl, in trying to keep a creeper vine in check, accidentally ends up killing every bit of plant life on the planet, dooming his entire species to extinction. The show ends with the family inside their home as snow begins to pile up, and all they're able to do is await the inevitable death that will befall them pretty soon. It's a pretty ironic ending given that we all expect a meteor to come along and kill them all if they're going to go that route, so kudos for the surprise, but really the end just left a sour taste, not only because it left us in tearful wrecks as children, but because it really just felt like a shoehorned environmental message above all else. Series finales should not be coloured by this sort of platforming.
