10 Most Powerful Doctor Who Villains

9. Cybermen

Doctor Who Cybermen Daleks
BBC

In terms of appearance and recognisability of Who villains, the Cybermen are second only to the Daleks. They’re behind them in the power stakes as well, but that doesn’t mean you can discount them. There’s a reason they have been regularly appearing on the show ever since their debut back in 1966.

Exactly as they sound - cyber men - their aim is to turn all of humanity into steel, emotionless robots like themselves. They often come close to this, only to be foiled time and again by The Doctor, and are one of his biggest foes.

The sheer amount of times they have appeared may mean that their power and menace has been diluted somewhat, but it is worth remembering just how much trouble they’ve caused for The Doctor over the years. When done right they can be one of the best opponents he has to face, and it’s pretty much guaranteed we’ll be seeing them again in the upcoming season 9.
