10 Most Underrated TV Shows Of 2018 (So Far)

These unappreciated gems deserve your attention too.

When it comes to television, we all have different tastes. However, there seems to be a trend among TV viewers at the moment, where many of them are more inclined to tune into the shows that have everyone talking. Let's be real, how many people do you know who watch Game Of Thrones or Stranger Things? Exactly.

In an attempt to produce something as popular as these word-of-mouth hits, the television market is becoming increasingly competitive, with many networks hoping that one of their offerings will become the next big thing. We're spoilt for choice when it comes to picking out our next TV addiction, but the downside of the oversaturated market is that many great shows get overlooked in favour of something a bit more mainstream.

This has been the case for quite a few years now. How many times have you brought up a show during a conversation, only to find that nobody else has heard of it? With more and more television being produced each year, the problem is only getting worse.

This year, television has seen the return of some underrated greats, as well as some wonderful newcomers that haven't been appreciated as much as they deserve to be.

10. Lost In Space

Netflix

Big-budget Netflix dramas are all the rage at the minute, and Lost In Space is everything you'd expect from the streaming service originals. It's an action-packed sci-fi adventure following the Robinson family as they depart from Earth in the hopes of finding a fresh start elsewhere. after a crash-landing, they find themselves on a serene snowy planet, but issues soon arise when they realise that they’re going to freeze to death.

Lost In Space is a remake of the classic '60s series of the same name, and while it does pay tribute to the past, this is a show that highlights the benefits of modern day televison. The cinematography is glorious, and it's clear that the series is intended for 4K viewing. The snowy backdrops are magnificent, and the CGI is wonderful, making it one of the most visually pleasing shows of the year.

Moreover, in a televison era full of death and violence, Lost In Space reminds us of a time when we could watch TV with our family - without being afraid of an adult scene creeping up and making us all feel uncomfortable. The ten-part series is the very definition of good clean family entertainment.

Unfortunately, Lost in Space hasn't received as much acclaim as other Netflix Originals, and it certainly doesn't have as much of a social presence either. With a second season on the way, let's hope that this changes.
