Not to come across as petty or anything, but the entirety of True Detective season two was one of television's biggest WTF moments in 2015. After the absolute masterpiece that was Niz Pizzolatto's first season, anticipation for the follow up was sky-high. Sure, the cast and story was different, but Colin Farrell was on board, and if Matthew McConaughey could experience a renaissance, what was stopping Vince Vaughn? Besides, Pizzolatto was still writing. The collective WTF began, then, during the first episode of season two, when fans were presented with a melodramatic story, depressed alcoholic characters and cringe-worthy dialogue. Oh, and Vince Vaughn was crap, too. In what was surely 2015's most prolonged WTF moment, the WTF-ness didn't let up until the final episode of the season, when fans (the few who had made it that far) were finally released from the clutches of disappointment and mediocre television.
