10 Nostalgic British Children's TV Classics

8. Bric A Brac

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ayJ5CLHDPc Another show that was made in the early 1980s and repeated throughout that decade on BBC 2. Bric a Brac starred another icon of children's television - the ever resourceful Brian Cant - who played the owner of a junk store. In every episode, Cant would deliver a monologue to the camera and talk about an object with a different letter of the alphabet. He would describe the object with a lot of alliteration and word play. At the end of each show, the camera would focus on an alarm clock as the credits rolled. I remember finding this show fair to middling but watchable due to Brian Cant's performance as the old geezer in the junk shop. If you have any memories of this show, I would be interested in hearing from you...

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
