9. Nip/Tuck - Quentin Costa Is The Carver (Season 3)

Season 2 of the deliciously decadent Nip/Tuck introduced a serial rapist, disfigurer and occasional murderer in The Carver, an individual who disagreed strongly with the McNamara/Troy plastic surgery practice, and particularly how they would fix Carver victim's faces for free (he had a habit of cutting their face). This creepy ass figure made for an extremely compelling antagonist, a mystery which dominated the second and third seasons, culminating in the third season finale. Regrettably, FX accidentally leaked the spoiler by posting a picture on the press section of their website the day before the finale was to air, revealing that plastic surgeon Quentin Costa was the Carver, and cop Kit McGraw was his accomplice. Though fans such as myself dismissed the picture as a trick, it turned out to be true, and low and behold, the very next day Costa was revealed as the Carver. It was a disappointingly zany reveal, even for the standards of the show, largely because of the attempts made to convince us that it wasn't him, even declaring that he had no penis in the prior episode, to make us believe that he wasn't possible of being a rapist (apparently, he used a dildo). The shadow of The Carver hung over the show for a while, and in my opinion it never really found its footing again despite its best attempts to be as brilliantly scandalous as possible.
