10 Reality TV Shows That Question Your Supernatural Beliefs

What do you get when you have a group of five who travel around in an RV solving the mysterious circumstances of alleged ghostly events? You get a great show! Unfortunately, we’re not talking about “Scooby Doo”, rather, “Ghosts In The Hood”, one of the dumbest offerings in the genre.

Airing for one season on WeTV in the beginning of 2017, “Ghosts In The Hood” follows the “Official Paranormal Operations” (or, OPO), a group of racial stereotypes that travel around Los Angeles, helping normal people overcome extraordinary problems at such diverse locales like a drive thru funeral home, and a pinata factory.

There’s Defecio, the head of the OPO whose defining trait is that he always wears a velour jumpsuit. Jasmine, the crazy Asian psychic who has to be seen to be believed. Maunda, the sassy investigator. Dave, the tech guy who builds equipment out of scrap. And Matty, the comic relief. To say these people sour the already questionable reputation of paranormal investigation would be an understatement, because it’s clear this group couldn’t even tell the difference between an E.M.F. and an E.V.P.

But that’s not the point. Just because this show follows the same format as the others on this list, doesn’t mean it’s the same creature. If anything, it’s a parody, showing how ridiculous all these other so-called paranormal investigators come off in their search for “the truth”.

It’s entertainment, first and foremost. And in the end, that’s what it’s all about. We’re all going to die after all, and if the afterlife does exist? I’d much rather come back as a ghost to somebody who’s enjoying their job and not taking things too seriously, than some morose, self-important con man looking for ratings and to line his pocket book.
