10 Reality TV Shows That Question Your Supernatural Beliefs

8. Finding Bigfoot

Probably sensing that the market for shows focusing on apparitions was getting a bit crowded, entrepreneurial television stations started focusing their attention toward new prey. Something just as terrifying, elusive, and able to be produced on the cheap... Bigfoot! Yes, the giant hairy cryptid better known as Sasquatch is all ready for his primetime close up. Only it seems that he never got the memo, because despite being on the air since 2011, the Animal Planet program “Finding Bigfoot” has failed to produce any real evidence of this creatures existence.

The premise of this show is simple, three Bigfoot obsessed men, and one skeptical woman, head out to interview some local crackpot who claims to have seen the giant beast somewhere in the woods, then stick around the area for a few nights hoping to find evidence to back up said crackpot’s claims.

Spoiler alert... they never do.

What they do in fact do, is sit around “squatchin’” No, that’s not something that will get you fined by Television Standards and Practices (I know, I thought it sounded dirty too), but rather, what they call their nighttime investigations. It’s during this time that they attempt to attract a Bigfoot to their locale, usually through knocking on trees, performing “Bigfoot calls” or cooking up some sort of bait involving bacon.

People get paid for this, folks. Just saying.

The big problem with this show however, is that before you even sit down to watch, you already know there won’t be any evidence found. If some backwater goofball was ever lucky enough to gather proof of Bigfoot’s existence, it would make national news, wouldn’t it? So right there, if you fail to hear any reports about Bigfoot being captured that week from a local reporter, then you know you’re basically in store for 45 minutes of four people sitting in the dark, lit by night vision cameras.
