10 Reasons DC Rules Superhero TV

DC now owns your TV.

While the crowd pleaser known as Arrow enters its third season on the CW, its spin-off The Flash has also struck ratings gold and was critically acclaimed upon its debut. DC have taken the crown in recent years as the undisputed kings of superhero television, living up to that grand title by expanding their roster of shows to include characters like Supergirl and even a young Bruce Wayne series. Their competitors at Marvel have been ruling the roost of cinema since 2008's breakout hit film Iron Man, but the continued success of the MCU at the box office has seen a somewhat lukewarm response from DC. Man of Steel made enough money to give DC cause to start their own shared universe, but Marvel has a distinct advantage having not only started much sooner, but the critical reception to Superman's latest on-screen venture was mired in controversy surrounding its city-destroying climax. DC wearing the crown of television isn't a new thing, as Smallville was a certifiable hit for ten years and they dominated the animation scene in the 1990's, perhaps signifying that the company should put more focus on their TV division. And with Marvel's Agents of SHIELD being something of a lame duck, the attention has swung even further over to DC on television. So hit the next button and we'll look at 10 reasons that DC rules superhero television.
