10 Reasons You Absolutely Have To Watch Better Call Saul

6. The Fourth Wall Remains Intact

It might have been tempting for the writers to push their characters through the fourth wall and have some fun with knowing looks and meta dialogue. Thankfully, the integrity of the show came first. When the audience has a wealth of knowledge that the characters don't, it adds an element of classic 'don't go down to the basement' horror to the viewing pleasure, which will only increase as the show moves further along. Already there's been the dark thrill of the moment when Jimmy first encounters Tuco. He's clearly scared when the patron saint of elderly relatives pulls him into his house, but he's nowhere near as scared as he should be. And even though his desert bargaining for the lives of the skater twins is superb and comfortingly moral, a part of you was willing him to just shut-up and walk away.
