10 'Rose' Moments That Proved Doctor Who Was Here To Stay

10 years later...

"Run!" The Ninth Doctor first muttered that immortal word exactly 10 years ago today and it's no exaggeration to say that he's been running ever since. Amidst a heightened mass of media pressure and the inevitable plethora of public scrutiny, Doctor Who made its grand televisual comeback on Saturday 26th March 2005 and it was like it had never been away. It had, of course, and for far too long too, since our beloved hero hadn't graced our screens since the ill-fated 1996 movie. Doctor Who was back, though, and this time it was serious. A brand new Time Lord was instated in the form of Christopher Eccleston, former teen pop sensation Billie Piper was signed up as his coveted companion and the rest, as they say, is history. If there were any naysayers doubting his return (and, trust us, there were!), the opening episode, Rose, was more than enough to convince them that the Doctor was in good hands. In fact, a record 10 million viewers tuned in for the premiere episode and it was aired to critical and fan acclaim. Here are 10 of its stand out moments that affirmed that Doctor Who was well and truly here to stay. Step aboard the TARDIS and join us on our commemorative journey to mark 10 spectacular years of NuWho. It really has been the trip of a lifetime.
