Leonard Nimoy Star Trek The world is still trying to cope with the news that Leonard Nimoy died Friday morning. Following a short period of hospitalization, the Star Trek legend passed away at his home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, after eventually succumbing to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Perhaps the best way to remember him is through his own words. Nimoy maintained a Twitter account for many years, often sending out moving messages filled with kindness and compassion, and the final tweet in that Twitter feed, sent in the early hours of February 23, 2015, provides the perfect eulogy:
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP
In his Twitter feed, he was well known for calling his fans his adopted grandchildren, a testament to his profound kindness. And, as proof of his sense of humour, he ended each tweet with the distinctive "LLAP" - Live Long And Prosper. Leonard Nimoy has gone now into that undiscovered country, but he will live forever in the hearts of fans around the world.
