10 Things That Every Parent Of A Doctor Who Fan Should Know

Hoping to raise a Whovian? Be prepared.

Contrary to the occasional spiteful prophecy, fans of Doctor Who have been reproducing for years. Second and third generation Whovians are now watching NuWho from their parents€™ laps - parents who once followed Classic Who from the laps of their own. This is, of course, thanks to the show€™s extreme longevity. There are other series that can legitimately claim to span generations but they do it via repeats, reboots and shared universes. Doctor Who has survived for 51 years showing the continuing adventures of just one individual. Yes, there have been hiatuses and relaunches but it€™s still essentially the same story. Fans have just jumped on board at different points. When you look into your baby's chubby face and say, "We're going to watch Doctor Who together you and I,€ you picture an idyllic future of family viewing. Good luck with that. Parenthood is many things but idyllic is not one of them. Forewarned is forearmed and advice on parenting is plentiful, contradictory and all encompassing. From nutrition to education, from bed times to pocket money, everyone has something to say. However there is one glaring omission in the library of parental guidebooks. What should you expect when you try to raise a Whovian? Let's find out.
