A lot of people must have been surprised when ITV made a second series of Broadchurch and now that's finished it's probably fair to say that the revelation that a third series is on the way was even more of a shock. But nevertheless, a casual announcement made during the closing credits revealed the story will continue. Fans haven't seen the last of stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman, or the far from sleepy seaside town which has caused them such heartache - as well as keeping the nation on the edge of its seat over sixteen episodes. Fiendish writer/creator Chris Chibnall isn't saying anything about what's going to happen, but speculation is to going be more rampant than a dog in a biscuit factory. He's proved himself to be a man full of surprises, with Series 2 no run of the mill sequel. However, it's safe to assume there are certain ingredients that go into Broadchurch, without which it just wouldn't be the same. Just as Series 1 was a classic murder mystery with soapy elements, so Series 2 featured another such blend, but also expanded the show into a legal drama.
