10 TV Shows That Would Have Been Better Off As Anthologies

9. Once Upon A Time

Once Upon A Time is a great show, but it does have its issues. Chief among these is its slow shift to reliance on a small core cast of characters - Snow White, Charming, Rumpelstiltskin, and a few others. The show was at its most engaging and interesting when each episode introduced us to a new resident of the town, and the end of each story arc brought them together in unexpected ways. So, then, what if the show were to be presented as an anthology series? Each set of episodes introducing and focusing on a certain number of characters in one of the innumerable fairy tale worlds would help to keep the show fresh, and even draw in new viewers. Admittedly, it's not a foolproof plan. Once: Wonderland stumbled right out of the gate and chances of it sticking around for another season are slim. Yet, that show was treated and marketed more as a spinoff, rather than as its own separate entity. But Anthology seasons of the show, spent reinventing the fairy tales we all know, would have much more longevity. Once: Wonderland, Once: Neverland, Once: The Enchanted Forest... the list is nearly endless, and so are the stories that could be sprung from it.
