10 Ways Your Favourite TV Shows Will Probably End

Some say the Game of Thrones will end in fire. Some say in ice...Maybe it's both?

A series finale can make or break a TV show.

When you're investing years of your life into a series, it's tough enough to face up to the fact it must one day end. But if it doesn't come to a close in a satisfactory manner, then all those hours of joy can turn to ashes in your mouth.

It's something TV fans are always having to face up to, and recent years have delivered some of the best and worst examples. Breaking Bad and Community, to name but two, both managed to stick the landing despite huge expectations. The likes of Lost, Dexter, and How I Met Your Mother, on the other hand, were far more divisive.

You might move past the disappointment eventually, but it's never quite the same. Of course, while we all want a satisfactory end for our favourite shows, predicting exactly how that'll happen is a different matter entirely.

There were a crazy number of theories about Mad Man, but no one saw (SPOILER ALERT) Don Draper being the guy to invent the Coke advert.

Some shows, though, because of their nature, or the direction they're headed in, can be guessed at. All good things must come to an end, and these ones could do so in style. (Contains spoilers.)

10. Oliver Finds Peace And Hangs Up The Bow - Arrow

How much longer does Arrow have left? In the first couple of years, those involved with the show always talked about having a 'five-year plan'. That would mean that the flashbacks eventually caught up with Oliver's return in Season 1, tying things up in a neat bow (and arrow).

Now we're in Season 5, and while the show's quality declined in Seasons 3 and 4, it doesn't appear as though this will be the last - indeed, there's already been talk about Season 6.

What Season 5 is doing, though, is further exploring the idea of Oliver allowing others to help him, and even training them up himself. He's a man who wants two things: to find some sense of inner-peace, and to protect Star City.

It's unlikely he'll find that peace while still being the Arrow, but Star City can perhaps one day be protected without him. He could still continue as Mayor, working to save the city in the light, and finally escaping his own darkness.

But he surely cannot be the Green Arrow forever (no matter what 2046 says on Legends of Tomorrow). I don't see Arrow killing off Oliver, but simply completing his journey - whether that's at the end of Season 6, or maybe 7 - and choosing to step back from vigilante life (after a last epic battle, most likely against someone like Malcolm Merlyn or Deathstroke).
