11 Awesome Netflix TV Shows (That Aren't Available In The UK)

What do we have to do to get a little West Wing around here?

NBC If you€™re British and you suffer from a serious series addition, then you probably know every Netflix TV show from pilot to finale. Breaking Bad was amazing while it lasted, and Better Call Saul has stood on its own two feet so far. Netflix originals House of Cards and Orange is The New Black have definitely been binge-worthy. Fargo, Arrested Development, Daredevil; there are lots of great shows only a swipe and a click away, but what happens when the Netflix tank runs dry? It will no doubt rile you to find out just how many great series there are on Netflix that you cannot access because of your region. The US version of the service has many, many TV shows that those using Netflix in the UK can€™t see, some of them British made, and most of them really good. Rather than remedy this by spreading the shows a little more generously across their worldwide libraries, Netflix have been accused of altering their policies on VPNs in a bid to stop people accessing content available outside of their registered country using virtual private networks, something that Netflix chief product officer Neil Hunt has denied. Those unable or unwilling to use a virtual back door to violate the company€™s terms of use simply have to make do with the current pool of shows, which, as deep as it is, isn€™t enough to quench the thirst of a serious TV addict. Any of the following US Netflix shows would be a welcome contribution here in the UK.

11. Mad Men

When Med Men€™s credits rolled for the last time this past May, like many fans of the show I came over with the urge to re-watch it from the very beginning, and being a Netflix customer I assumed this would be relatively straight forward. Not for a UK user, unfortunately. This period drama is a subversive look at the history of the American workplace, in particular the advertising executives of Madison Avenue known as Mad Men. Set primarily in the 1960s, the show follows the personal and professional life of Don Draper, a fictional character based partially on Draper Daniels, a creative director at the Leo Burnett advertising agency in 1950s Chicago who worked on the Marlboro Man campaign. Mad Men€™s entire seven season run can be streamed by American Netflix users, each of which received widespread critical acclaim for its writing, acting, and historical authenticity. Matthew Weiner€™s show won numerous awards over the course of its run, including 16 Emmys and four Golden Globes.

Phil still hasn't got round to writing a profile yet, as he has an unhealthy amount of box sets on the go.
