12. Robby the Robot

Robby the Robot made his debut in the classic sci-fi film Forbidden Planet in 1956. He soon became the most successful robot "actor" to ever grace the small screen. In fact, he was so successful he appeared in 10 different American television series including: The Thin Man - "Robot Client" (1958) Twilight Zone - "Uncle Simon" (1963) and "The Brain Center at Whipple's" (1963) Hazel - "Rosie's Contract" (1962) Lost in Space - "War of the Robots" (1966) and "Condemned of Space" (1967) Gilligan's Island - "Gilligan's Living Doll" (1966) The Addams Family - "Lurch's Little Helper" (1966) The Banana Splits Adventure Hour - as Mildred the Maid (1968-1970) Columbo - "Mind Over Mayhem" (1974) Ark II - "The Robot" (1976) Mork & Mindy - "Dr Morkenstein" (1979) That's quite a run for a robot - 23 years of film and television acting.
