12 Moments That Have Defined The Last Decade Of Doctor Who

Time flies when you're having fun.

It's hard to believe that the revived series of Doctor Who turns 10 years old this month. On Saturday 26th March 2005, the TARDIS reopened its doors after a prolonged hiatus of 16 years and nothing was ever the same again. It's strange to think that people actually had reservations about our hero's televisual return when you consider the fact that it's now one of the world's most formidable franchises with a global audience of over 70 million. Believe it or not, though, but there really was a time when any new series of Doctor Who was seemingly destined to fail before it had even started. How wrong the naysayers were. 10 million viewers tuned in for the premiere episode, Rose, and the series has been going from strength to strength since it was revamped for a 21st century audience. Russell T Davies is to thank for its colossal comeback and the ongoing escapes of TV's favourite Time Lord have continued to push the boundaries of Saturday night teatime drama under the helm of its current showrunner, Steven Moffat, too. NuWho has introduced us to four Doctors, a multitude of companions, a plethora of enemies new and old and that's not to mention all of the timey-wimey fun and jollity (plus the twists, the turns, the heartbreak and the rest!) along the way. To commemorate its anniversary, here are 12 iconic moments that have helped to define the last decade of Doctor Who. It has certainly been one hell of a decade and do you know what? We wouldn't have missed it for the world.
