3. Priest
Description: In his 40s or 50s. A gruff ex-soldier who found religion. Now a no-nonsense rural priest who ministers to the poor of the countryside. Hes salt-of-the-earth man who has weathered many battles. Who It Could Be: This could be either Septon Meribald or the Elder Brother. Meribald is a wandering septon who travels round the Riverlands ministering the Faith of the Seven, while the Elder Brother is the leader of the men who reside on the Quiet Isle, and the only one who is allowed to speak at will. The part of ministering the poor of the countryside sounds more like Meribald, while the ex-soldier points to the Elder Brother, so it could well be an amalgamation of the two. Both play a role in Briennes storyline, as it is Meribald who leads her to the Quiet Isle, where she meets the Elder Brother, who informs her of Sandor Cleganes fate. Theres a theory that the gravedigger Brienne spots on the Quiet Isle is Clegane, so this could be a big hint at his return in season 6. Of course, given where Briennes storyline is at the moment, we should already have seen these characters, so quite how theyll work that isnt clear. Could it have something to do with finally meeting a certain stone-hearted Lady?
