12 TV Comedies You Need To Be Watching

3. Community

It used to be the Internet's absolute favorite show, a cult hit despite not doing very well in the ratings, but ever since the move to Yahoo Screen, it seems like Community has kind of faded from the conversation. That's a shame, because Season 6 was one of the show's best seasons ever, and the series is still going strong despite everything stacked against it.

Community follows a group of students and teachers at a ridiculous, disreputable community college in Colorado. They begin as a study group in the first few seasons but over the course of the show evolve into something much more than that. And just as the group itself evolves, the show does too, starting as a pretty traditional sitcom but turning into a weird sendup and celebration of genre tropes, with episode long homages to horror stories, war movies, bottle episodes, and even My Dinner With Andre.

But although the show became well known for its gimmick episodes, the series isn't just about what the writers are going to spoof next. It also has a phenomenal sense of characters, really caring about their relationships and their emotional journey more than your typical sitcom does these days. It's a funny, heartwarming show that's only getting better and better, and even after being yanked from television, it's still going strong.
