12 Worst TV Shows Of 2018

12. House Of Cards (Season 6)

House Of Cards Season 6
Netflix

House of Cards' sixth and final season was put in an undeniably tough spot from the jump, what with Kevin Spacey getting the boot from the hit political thriller series following historic sexual abuse allegations levelled against him.

But considering that the show was already heading towards a showdown between Spacey's Frank Underwood and his wife Claire (Robin Wright), pivoting the focus to Claire was a pretty tidy way to finish things off. In theory, at least.

Though Robin Wright gave a typically towering performance in her newly-minted lead role, House of Cards limped to a conclusion by turns tedious, embarrassingly melodramatic and, finally, a complete cop-out.

The most baffling aspect of the season is its refusal to move on from Spacey, constantly re-inserting Frank as an off-screen spectre for the entirety of the season, which rather undermines the female empowerment angle it otherwise seems to shoot for.

What an atrocious end for a series which helped put Netflix Originals on the map.
