13 CW Actors Who Deserve An Emmy Nomination

11. Luke Perry - Riverdale

Jon Cryer Supergirl
The CW

Riverdale launched itself over that proverbial shark long ago, sailing past illogical and ridiculous on its way to nonsense and, in doing so, lost sight of what it was originally supposed to be. But no matter how many stupid decisions were made or which characters behaved irrationally, one person who seemed to be immune to all of the questionable writing was the lovable Fred Andrews.

The late, great Luke Perry was already playing something of a reduced role in the third season before his untimely passing, but every time that he flashed that genuine smile, it was impossible not to reciprocate.

Perry had a way of commanding our attention but in an ever-so subtle kind of way. There was a warmth about his performance that could instantly put viewers at ease so, no matter what ridiculous shenanigans were going on in the background, you believed everything was going to be alright simply because he said it would be.

Fred Andrews may have been Riverdale's moral compass, but Luke Perry was its heart, guiding it back to the light whenever he was on-screen with an admirably grounded performance as Archie's loving father. What he added to the show in his far-too brief scenes felt more authentic than anything else it could ever hope to offer, and it goes without saying that Riverdale will sorely miss his presence.

A veteran of his craft, he deserves a nomination for all he has given to the industry over the years and it would undoubtedly be a fitting tribute to the former teen icon.
