13 Upcoming Netflix Original Shows To Be Excited About

2. The Defenders

All of Marvel€™s standalone superhero movies build up to the Avengers team-up, where all the heroes must unite to face a foe to big for just one of them. The Defenders is going to be the TV equivalent.

By the time it airs Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist will all have had their series, and then they€™ll be coming together to form the Defenders. In the comics the team was originally led by Doctor Strange, but with Benedict Cumberbatch set to play the character on the big screen in 2016 it€™d be a hell of a coup if he were to appear in the series.

Instead it€™s more likely to focus on the by-then established heroes, with some new additions thrown into the mix as well, and a fearsome foe in New York City that requires them all to come together and, well, defend it.

Marvel has proven that this world-building method works in the movies, but it€™s a bold move to try and replicate it on television. You wouldn€™t bet against them pulling it off.
