15 Greatest Comic Book Cartoons Of All Time

10. X-Men Evolution

15 6 X-Men Evolution had a great concept; by having the X-Men appear as teenagers instead of adults, the show could explore a range of characters and stories that hadn't really been tapped before in superhero cartoons. The show soon became the third-longest running Marvel cartoon of all time, and that success can be linked to Boyd Kirkland; the man responsible for writing and producing a large portion of the Batman animated series, and two feature-length animations; SubZero and Mask of the Phantasm. This cartoon attempted a whole new direction for the X-Men, and it benefitted greatly from it. It adopted a much cleaner visual style than before, and it also made the bold decision to have the X-Men represented as young students, who had to deal with mutant prejudice in a variety of new ways, in and out of school. X-Men Evolution was an extremely well made cartoon for its time, as it had a vast selection of great ideas. Sure, Scott Summers was a little bit whiny and Kitty Pryde was persistently scared of her mutant ability, but the show had some great moments and its coup de grace was undoubtedly the fourth season finale, which included the mutant nemesis Apocalypse. Evolution was a pleasant surprise for most X-Men fans, and the show is still watchable even today. It had some great voice actors, solid animation and wonderful storytelling. It's one of those shows that developed really well towards it later seasons, and it could be said that Evolution boasts the most interesting version of Rogue.
