15 Most Hotly Anticipated TV Shows Of Summer 2017

14. I'm Dying Up Here

I'm Dying Up Here
Showtime

Although there are lots of comedy shows, few actually explore comedians themselves, something I'm Dying Up Here is going to change. The Showtime series is executive produced by Jim Carrey, and will take place in Los Angeles during the 1970s.

Inspired by Mitzi Shore and her club The Comedy Store, it'll be led by Melissa Leo as Goldie, the brassy owner of a comedy club. She'll oversee a number of up-and-coming, struggling stand-ups, as well as the various talent managers hanging around too. The cast includes Ari Graynor (Fringe), RJ Cyler (Power Rangers), and Clarke Duke (The Office). Jonathan Levine has directed the pilot, and there'll be guest appearances from the likes of Alfred Molina and Sebastian Stan.

There'll be as much drama as there will comedy, and it should offer insight into a fascinating period for stand-up comedy.

Premiere Date: June 4
