20 Greatest Ever Superhero TV Shows

3. The Greatest American Hero

How much fun is this show? The Greatest American Hero is the story of a single father who works at a particularly rough high school, and is given a special spandex suit that imbues the wearer with super strength and the ability to fly. Only problem is, he lost the manual, and has no idea how to make the suit work. Crazy hijinks ensue, with the suit's rather intimidating learning curve, and he helps the world in a rather haphazard way. Honestly, the show earns it's place on this list through the sheer catchiness of its theme song alone. They don't make them like that anymore. Ralph Hinkley is an endearing hero, one who doesn't take himself too seriously but still manages to get the job done. A show with such a simple premise shouldn't have been able to stay interesting for several seasons, but it somehow managed it, and only faltered towards the end when he actually became adept at using the suit.
