20 Mind-Blowing Facts About It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

15. Danny DeVito Was Only Available For 20 Days During Season 2 Shooting

Getting Danny DeVito was a great boon for Sunny and his character Frank Reynolds has become one of the centrepieces of the show. A lot of Sunny's funniest situations and episodes are based around the oddball millionaire. Having DeVito come in for season two was a positive but only having him available for twenty days was something of a logistical nightmare for the cast and crew, who had to shoot ten episodes worth of scenes in those twenty days, often working on different episodes at the same time. The effort was worth it, though: it was a great debut season for Frank and he has grown to be a huge part of the show's success. It is also reported that Danny DeVito enjoys working on the show as much, if not more so, than anyone else and regularly volunteers to do things that some would assume he would have a problem doing (like coming out of the couch naked during A Very Sunny Christmas).
