13. Pepper

There€™s dedication to a role, and then there€™s what actress Naomi Grossman goes through to turn into fan favourite Pepper. In the show Pepper suffers from a disorder called microcephaly, a disorder that results in a disproportionately small head. In order to create the look for Pepper, Grossman had to have all of her hair shaved off as well as undergoing nearly 3 hours worth of make up and prosthetics each day to transform her into the wrongfully committed murderer. Speaking of dedication to the role, from her extensive prosthetics for the role of Shelley, Chloe Sevigny had to be wheeled around in a wheelchair because she couldn€™t straighten her legs to walk. In contrast, actor Chris Zylka was booked for a two-episode arc as a deaf, mute patient in the series€™ second season. However, he refused to shave his head for the role so the producers decided to write the role out in the wake of the actor€™s refusal.
