It wouldn't be right to end a season of Game Of Thrones without throwing in a few WTF moments for extra impact. The show relies on a formula in which character development and exposition play out at a leisurely pace early on, before bombshells are dropped with increasing frequency. The first half of Season 5 was perhaps even slower than previous season. In King's Landing, a new plot thread revolving around the emergence of the religious sect, the Sparrows, took centre stage while other threads - Stannis Baratheon's ongoing bid for the iron Throne, Jon Snow's efforts to bring the Wildlings under the orbit of Castle Black and Tyrion Lannister's long trek to his inevitable meeting with Daenerys Targaryen - unfolded in an unhurried manner, allowing the characters some time to breathe. While some viewers were starting to get impatient that nothing much was happening in Season 5 (at least, nothing which particularly made their jaws drop in amazement), show creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss knew what they were doing, and from Episode 7 onwards, the slow trickle of WTF moments transformed into a veritable torrent.
