25 New And Returning TV Shows To Watch This Summer

Why go to the beach when you could binge on Orange Is The New Black?

New TV Shows
Netflix, HBO

With a lot of great shows like Game of Thrones and Community getting to the end of their season, and others like Mad Men already having ended, it might seem like there's nothing to look forward to on television for a while. Watching the season finale of our favourite show, it can be pretty depressing remembering that we won't have a new episode for an entire year. That's a long time to wait.

Luckily, though, we're living in the golden age of television, a time with literally hundreds of excellent, compelling shows on the air at once. Whenever a Game of Thrones leaves, an Orange is the New Black comes in to take its place. We're never without something to watch for very long anymore.

This summer especially, there are a whole lot of excellent shows to look forward to. There's the return of great shows like True Detective and Orange is the New Black. Then there's some shows coming back that aren't as well known but are recent enough that it's pretty easy to get caught up in time for the premiere.

There's also a variety of new shows coming out this summer that might be worth checking out and getting on board with early. From serial killers to football players to detectives to prisoners, based on this schedule, it's looking to be a pretty crazy, entertaining summer for television.

Here are 25 of the new and returning shows to keep an eye out for this summer.

25. Aquarius - May 28th

Aquarius is a new event series coming to NBC in just a few days. Starring David Duchovny of The X-Files, the series takes place in 1967 and follows a cop going undercover to investigate Charles Manson.

It sounds like it could be pretty interesting, and David Duchovny is always worth watching, but what's especially interesting is that following the May 28th premiere, NBC will be pulling a Netflix and releasing every episode of the show on its website all at once. They'll also be airing the episodes week to week like usual for anyone who doesn't like the all at once model.

Whether you want to binge it or not, it definitely seems like it has potential to be great, or at least worthy of a weekend binge before all the other shows get going.
