30 Greatest TV Shows Of All Time

1. Breaking Bad

Quite possibly no TV show since the end of Lost has created as much of a furore as Breaking Bad, the absurdly addictive crime drama series starring Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. To leave a financial legacy for his family, he decides to manufacture and sell crystal meth, relying on his former student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) as his partner. Together, the two try to evade both other enterprising drug dealers and the attention of the DEA, as is all the more important considering Walter's brother-in-law Hank is a cop in that very agency. With its unexpected New Mexico setting, gorgeous cinematography, bada** dialogue, dark humour and often grotesque gore, Breaking Bad became an instant success, with Cranston in particular being singled out for his against-type performance, given his prior success as Hal on Malcolm in the Middle. Delivering what's truly one of the all-time great TV performances, he is sheer perfection as Walter's bald-headed, Pork Pie hat-wearing alter ego known as Heisenberg. The series finale may not have quite lived up to the brilliant, tension-laced final season, but it still gave these fantastic characters a highly entertaining send-off.
