While it received plenty of attention in its formative years, New Girl has unfortunately been overlooked more recently in favour of bright new things.
That's a shame because, while there are now better and bolder shows out there, New Girl has remained one of the most consistently funny, warm, and comforting TV shows around. At this point it's slipped into that similar sort of bracket Friends is in after so many rewatches, where it's just an effortlessly enjoyable watch.
Season 7 will be its last, and while Season 6 would've been a great end anyway, it's nice that the show is getting to go out on its own terms with a final run of eight episodes. The series will leap forward four years, and will hopefully provide a fitting end to the story of Jess, Nick, Schmidt, Cece, and Winston.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
