What do you get if you cross Glee with Friday Night Lights? That's what Jason Katmis, head writer and producer of the latter, is hoping to provide with NBC's Rise, a new high school musical series.

The show, based on the book Drama High, itself about the true events of the Harry S. Truman high school, centres on a school where controversial plays are tested out and numerous students go on to Broadway stardom.

So far so Glee, but it'll also have a big focus on football too, as you'd expect from Katmis. Josh Radnor leads the series, while we'll also get to see Moana star Auli'i Cravalho display her singing talents in live-action form, and the series is co-created by Jeffrey Seller, who produced a little musical called Hamilton.

Air Date: March 13
