5 Facts Everyone Thinks They Know About Doctor Who (That Are Actually False)

4. The TARDIS Is A Blue Box

TARDIS_organ The TARDIS is, if there is such a thing, the definitive symbol of Doctor Who. A blue box that travels in time and space! If you know the show, you'll probably know the explanation of why it is this way; the TARDIS has something called a Chameleon Circuit which allows it to change shape on landing to blend into its surroundings perfectly. However, this has been on the blink for a while now so it is stuck in the shape of a 1960s Police Box. But did you know it hasn't always been a blue box? And, no, I'm not talking about €˜The Doctor€™s Wife€™, where the TARDIS becomes a woman. Though that does count. The biggest example of a change of the TARDIS other than that episode occurred much earlier. In the Sixth Doctor€™s opening story, €˜Attack of the Cybermen€™, an ultra-violent, moody adventure, there€™s a lighter moment at its beginning when, for no real reason, the Doctor decides to finally fix the Chameleon Circuit. And so as he lands in modern-day London, the TARDIS transforms into €. A pipe organ. Have no fear, at the end of the story, the Doctor realises he likes it better the other way and changes it back to a Police Box. And it has been so ever since. Apart from the time it was a woman.
