3. Masked Rider (1995-1996)
Masked Rider is about an alien named Dex who travels from his home world of Edenoi to Earth in order to stop his evil uncle Count Dregon from conquering the planet. Once arriving on Earth, he is adopted by the Stewarts family and uses his Masked Rider powers to defend the town of Leawood and the world from Dregon's evil army of Insectivores. Like the Power Rangers, he has an armor that appears whenever he transforms. He also has a dirt bike. Why? Because it was the 90's and dirt bikes were cool. Oh, one more thing. He has a pet named Ferbus which looks like a Furby. No, really, look at it...
Masked Rider is the only rip-off that is actually a spin-off of Power Rangers. The character debuted in a three part episode entitled A Friend in Need one week before his own series began and features the Rangers teleporting to Edenoi to help the Rider and his people fight off Dregon's attack. Masked Rider only lasted on season and has been forgotten by just about everyone. Don't believe me.
