5 Reasons To Watch Classic Doctor Who

3. Classic Who Is As Scary As Anything Moffat Writes

Doctor Who Classic 1 Most people equate the truly hair-raising Who episodes with the modern series because it has given us the terrifying likes of the Weeping Angels, the Vashta Nerada, and the Silence. But the fact of the matter is that the classic series had episodes that gave just as many nightmares. Who can forget the chilling metallic voices of the Cybermen in Tomb of the Cybermen as they solemnly intoned, "You will be like us"? There's also The Brain of Morbius, which pitted the Doctor and Sarah Jane against a mad Time Lord who sought to extend his life beyond the natural regeneration cycle by having a special body built to house his brain (think Frankenstein with Time Lords). Then there's the marrow-freezing State of Decay wherein the Doctor, Romana, and Adric battled space vampires (none of which sparkled, by the way). I realize that different people will find different things frightening, but many of the classic Who episodes could deliver chills and thrills with the best of the modern series.
