It doesn't matter whether it's a long-running series that came to a natural conclusion, or a TV gem that was cancelled too soon, there's nothing quite like getting the news that one of your favourite shows is going to be revived.

A classic TV series making a comeback might've once been considered a rarity, but in an era filled to the brim with on demand entertainment and streaming services galore, they're becoming much more commonplace - and it's easy to see why.

From a television executive's perspective, it would make more sense to invest money in a series with an already existing - and passionate - fanbase, as opposed to one that has yet to gain a following.

The past couple of years have seen plenty of old gems resurface on our screens, and telly is much better off because of it. Of course, these comeback series' aren't always successful, but more often than not, they've been worth the lengthy wait.
