6. Jericho

In the wake of Lost€™s success, several similar shows sprung up in an attempt to replicate its formula. Most failed and found themselves cancelled after one season (a subject I€™ve covered before), Jericho amongst them. Unlike its counterparts, however, Jericho was both a highly intriguing and engaging show, focusing on the residents of a fictional Kansas town in the wake of a nuclear attack that has decimated much of the rest of the United States. Full of mystery and intrigue, the show aired a full twenty-two episode season before it was cancelled (despite average ratings of nearly ten million), incorporating storylines such as a war with a nearby town and the investigation of a supposed conspiracy behind the nuclear attack. Brought back as a midseason replacement in 2008 after a number of fan campaigns, seven more episodes were made as a makeshift second season before the show was cancelled again, though its plot has continued in the form of comics since.
