Adapted from Eric Nylund's original novel, this animated series centres on the origins of the Master Chief and the Spartan program. Halo: The Fall of Reach looked an exciting prospect and delivers on many levels, including stunning space shots and smart layered animation, but that hasn't been enough to appease hardcore fans. Many have developed an extreme love/hate relationship with Fall of Reach, the general consensus being that it falls short of the mark, landing somewhere between Forward Unto Dawn and Nightfall. The storyline is a departure from Nylund's book, but its experimental production style and resulting fan opinion can only bode well for the franchise, as it continues unofficial beta-testing ahead of a proper big screen outing.
